Lacy motif pattern
Here is my latest pattern. Please feel free to use it to create a special touch for a bag or to make several and join together for a blanket or even just the odd coaster! I am attempting to learn how to upload a PDF and as soon as I can I shall do that for all who would like to download the pattern. Also, if you are using a tablet to view this pattern you're best to do so in landscape as the end-of-round pictures are more aligned with the round instructions.
Notes: This pattern is worked in rounds. If you like use a round marker (a small piece of alternate coloured wool will do) but I didn't as the end of the rounds seem obvious to me.
Also, I've used the British terminology so dc for a double crochet as opposed to sc for single crochet etc.
Equipment:
Your desired colour of lace-weight yarn 1 skein (although you'll not sue that much!)
2 mm crochet hook
Bodkin/yarn needle
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
htr = half treble
tr = treble crochet
dtr = double treble
trtr = triple treble
rpt = repeat
rnd = round
beg = beginning
sp = space
Special stitches (this is for beginners who do not know this stitch as yet):
Double treble: start as you would a treble stitch but instead of putting the yarn over hook once this happens twice. So before any loops are drawn through there are two loops on the hook. Then complete as you would a treble by putting hook through stitch, yarn over hook, draw yarn through first two loops until all but working loop are off the hook.
Triple treble: as for double treble but at yarn over hook make it three times so there are three loops on the hook before putting hook through stitch.
Please note: pictures demonstrate the end of each round e.g. first picture refers to the motif at the end of round 1.
Foundation round:
Starting with a magic circle loop hook 6 chain stitches (these count as 1dtr and 2 ch). The *1dtr and 2 ch* repeat from * 4 times. Join into fourth chain at beg of rnd and tighten circle. 5 spokes and 5 ch spaces created.
Round 1:
1dc, 2tr, 1dtr, 1trtr, 1dtr, 2tr, 1dc into each ch sp whilst incorporating the loose tail end into the bottom loop of the stitch. (If you prefer you can always sew this end in later)
Round 2:
ss into first 6 stitches.
*4 ch, ss into 2nd tr of next petal, ss into next 4 st* rep all way round.
Round 3:
Turn (this is the only turn but helps the pattern work)
1dc, 2tr, 1dtr, 1trtr, 1dtr, 2tr, 1dc into each ch sp with 4 ch between (over top) of each petal repetition.
Round 4:
ss into first 6 stitches then *4 ch, 1 dc into ch sp, 4 ch, ss into 2nd to of next petal, ss into next 4 st* rep to end.
Please note: some of the stitches I am asking you to now work into have a slip stitch over the top which can make it difficult to find the right stitch. Refer to the stitch below to make sure you're in the right place.
Round 5:
1ch, miss dtr and 1dc straight into trtr.
*6 ch and 1 dc into next ch sp twice then 6 ch and 1 dc into next trtr* rep to end and ss into first dc. Fasten off and see in any loose ends.
